You have likely heard, or have been exposed to many health programs or healthy eating challenges. Does “The two-week juice cleanse” or “drop 20 pounds in two weeks” ring a bell? These challenges have some goal or “promise” stating that if you do this challenge you will get amazing results.
Like the health food and exercise challenges, this challenge is for all that want a happier life. Try the happy life challenge for at least two weeks. It is simple. There is one basic rule.
Rule: Substitute negative with positive.
Like many health food challenge the goal is to substitute your unhealthy eating habits, with healthy eating habits. Same goes for this challenge. Although it might be impossible to avoid everything negative, you can start by substituting your daily negative external experiences with positive ones. Here are the main things to pay attention to.
Media: This is the huge one. There is so much negativity on social media. Take a break from that for a couple weeks. Make sure you are watching and listening to positive entertainment. The more positive, the better.
Why? Because the things that you see and hear are processed and stored in your memories, becoming a part of you.
People/Surroundings: This is the other big one. “You become who you hang out with”. This statement is so true. Try and visualize your social group. Would you say you act similarly to them? If you notice that there are social settings that are more positive than negative, focus with the positive settings and eliminate the negative.
Physical Health: Eating healthy food and exercising will give you a chemical advantage in being happy. The phrase, “You are what you eat” is also a true statement. The nutritious food changes the cells of your body for the better, while processed foods have a negative impact. Focus on eating whole foods, and more fruits and vegetables. If you eat junk food you will feel like junk. Try substituting your pizza pockets with a better choice.
There you have it! This challenge is for those that would like to have a happier life. Some of the negative things in our life might not be avoidable, such as negative relationship patterns and emotions. However, you can still make a huge change in your happiness by tipping the scales in the positive direction. This is your challenge. The more honest you are with yourself and the more diligent, the more noticeable the results will be. It is up to you, how long you continue this. But try it for at least 2 weeks. The longer you do it, naturally it will become a part of you.
